Refurbishings

From rust removal to rebuilding the main components, if the job qualifies as a refurbishing, everything can be included. Once it is finished, even professionals would have a hard time discovering it had been done!
We use only the most accurate and professional wiring methods.
In the event that there is a special or different technique employed we will document it and make it accessible for future maintenance.

We offer the longest warranty in the industry on our refurbs.
Our warranty is 18 months - Most new units are only guaranteed for a year after purchase.

Included in a Sterilizer Refurb

American Medlab Services, Inc. will supply all labor, materials and supervision to accomplish the listed required maintenance for the safety and reliability of your unit. A One-Year Parts & Labor Warranty and 2 preventative maintenance visits are included.

* Remove existing piping and cap off services to unit.

* Remove all electrical devices and associated wiring from sterilizer and cap off electrical supply lines to unit.

* Insulate shell.  Paint lower frame with Marine Paint.

* Re-pipe sterilizer, as necessary, with new fittings.

* Replace solenoids, check valves, steam regulators, Y-strainers, and traps to bring your unit up to factory specs.  A new air filter with housing will be added to break vacuum and filter incoming air.

* Mount control boxes.  Install and secure conduit.  Run low voltage and line voltage wiring throughout unit.

* Remove covers on doors and replace any parts found defective.

* Replace gauges and install new tubing.

* Replace heat exchanger, if applicable, and have vacuum pump/motor overhauled or replaced as needed.

* Demonstrate start-up operation and training of new system to operating and maintenance personnel.

* Provide 3 copies of the Operations and Maintenance Manual.

In order to ensure proper operation of the sterilizer after installation of the new controller, American Medlab Services, Inc. has made replacement of the above parts our standard.  The manufacturer of the controller also recommends these replacements.  Experience has shown that these parts are normally worn and in need of replacement.

Preventative Maintenance

Preventative maintenance is the best way to make sure your unit stays running at its maximum efficiency. By using checkpoints, we help to ensure fewer problems and more time the unit can be used without interruption.

Sterilizers

Since 1995, we have been gathering experince working on many different sterilizers from many different manufacturers.

Difference between an autoclave and a sterilizer:

An autoclave uses steam only. A sterilizer can use one of the following: steam, gas, or electricity as a way to sterilize. All autoclaves are sterilizers, but not all sterilizers are autoclaves.

Gravity Sterilizer:

Why is it a gravity sterilizer? Doesn't do a pre-vac (pre-conditioning)

A gravity sterilizer does a condition for 1-3 minutes, which is: Pumps steam and exhausts all at the same time. Then goes into charge: Exhaust closes, chamber steam valve continues to pump steam until it reaches a pre-set temperature (usually 250 or 270f / 121 or 132c). When it reaches temp it times out (with the steam in chamber) for a set time. Then it goes into dry cycle. Steam is shut off and an ejector or a vacuum pump evacuates the chamber. Not all gravity sterilizers pull a vacuum. Some will have ejector valve and they pull outside air into the chamber through a filter, very rapidly - dumping cool air onto hot sterilized items. The filter prevents outside contaminants from contaminating the load. Usually used for hard goods (SS pans, bottles - NOT LINENS).

3 Kinds of Sterilizer Runs:
1) Hard Goods: Pans, bottles, glass and utensils.
2) Wrap Goods: Linens, Patients Packs, etc.
3) Liquids: Water, Media Preparation, etc.
